As an avid theater fan, I was honored to direct Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues at Langosat Lounge in Asbury Park, NJ in 2016 & 2019. The performances featured women in the community and raised essential funds for 180 Turning Lives Around, Inc. & Garden State Equality.
While working at 180 Turning Lives Around, Inc., Wall Township, NJ presented me with an official proclamation claiming April 25 as Denim Day to raise sexual assault awareness in the community.
The Ms. Race, an annual charity event out of Atlantic Highlands, provided me with an opportunity to learn a new skill AND raise awareness for sexual and domestic assault.
Superstorm Sandy was the hardest lesson to learn. Out of the rubble, I poured my anger and sadness into photography which was exhibited (along with other community member photos) to raise awareness that sexual and domestic violence spike during natural disasters. The exhibit became a staple event for the JBJ Soul Kitchen and is hosted each year featuring a different theme.
